In Memory Of

Rowland Woods

The Club notes with great sadness the death of Rowland Woods, who died peacefully at Mary Potter Hospice, on 4 January 2018, aged 81.

Rowland Woods gave significant service to the Rotary Club of Karori.  He joined the Club on 15 February 2005 and he served as President of the Club in the 2013-14 year and as Chairman of the Club’s Charitable Trust in the years 2015-17.

Rowland was an active member within the various Committees of the Club and also on the District International Service Committee during the 2011-12 year. He was an energetic supporter of all activities of the Club.  He was awarded the highest award that a Rotary Club can bestow on its members, a Paul Harris Fellow, in December 2017, shortly before his death. He will be greatly missed.

The thoughts of the members are with Anita and the family at this time.

On a happier note, what better way to start the new year than with a cool drink while having a friendly game of bowls on a beautiful summer evening.

Such was the lot of Karori Rotarians when they visited their colleagues at Tawa. Tawa Rotary turned on a great evening including 'real' bowlers from the Tawa Bowls Club to assist those Karori bowlers that needed assistance (ie most of us).

Unfortunately your correspondent has no photos to illustrate the pleasure of the occasion.

Our sincere thanks to our Tawa colleagues for their fine hospitality.

Please note our next meeting on Tuesday 13 February at 6:30pm at Marsden with the National Science and RYLA 2018 candidates.
