The Rotary Club of Wellington has taken over the running of the Wellington Heritage Festival which this year will run from 23 October - 5 November. A Project Committee led out by very experienced Rotarians on governance and management, Wellington, Port Nic and Tawa Rotarians, together with last years Festival director, Alex Hockley, will have overall control for the financial management, programme, website development and social media coverage for the Festival events.

The Project Committee is being chaired by Wellington Rotary President Elect, Roger Blakeley, former CE of the Ministry for the Environment, Internal Affairs, CE of Porirua City Council, former Chief Planning Officer for Auckland City Council and until recently a Greater Wellington Regional Councillor.

Past President, David Watt from our Club has been a key advisor in the setting up of this new management structure to take the festival forward from his long experience working for Heritage New Zealand.
There are opportunities for our Club to be involved in heritage festival events in Karori around heritage properties, churches and several  events that are programmed at the historic Karori Cemetery.
