Sixty seven Rotarians from throughout our District, including Krystle Crimmins and David Watt from the Rotary Club of Karori had a pre look at the new Te Wao Nui on Sunday morning 18 September. The tour was conducted by Rotarian and Wellington Hospital Foundation Chair, Bill Day and Foundation staff. The grand opening by HE Cindy Kiro, Governor General of New Zealand will take place on Friday 30 September.

Rotary has been a strong financial contributor to this 50 bed $116m new hospital. We were given entry to the new surgery ward and day care patients areas on  two floors, and to the two newly constructed whanau rooms and ancilliary services.

It was a wonderful opportunity for a look with further work in progress to complete on time. Progressively the services of the old Children’s Hospital will be merged with the new hospital during October.
