Greetings to you all. Unfortunately bad weather and a drop off in expected attendance numbers forced a cancellation of our meeting on 14 February.

We share the grief faced by thousands of New Zealanders affected by Cyclone Gabrielle, the loss of homes and businesses and many people unaccounted for in the devastation that faces our country. We join with Rotarians throughout New Zealand in offering what help we can to all those in need.

We had a good turn out to hear international sports lawyer, David Howman, speak at our business breakfast on 16 February . He painted a depressing scene with so much corruption occurring across a range of international sports with increasing crime and money power impacting on many sports bodies.

Next Tuesday we will welcome a neighbour of mine, Karen Fifield, Chief Executive of the Wellington Zoo Trust to speak to our evening meeting at Marsden. This should be a good meeting.

Keep the Quiz teams coming for the ‘Lifting the Lid’ on Youth Suicide funding support. There is quite a lot of interest in this event and we want to have some teams from our club joining other community groups taking part.

And don’t forget District Conference. DG Marilyn Stevens would have been at our last meeting, and she is looking for good support for Conference from 17-19 March.

I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 28 February at Marsden.

Warm regards
Jay.
