A warm welcome to our new District Governor Mark Wheeler. Mark joined Rotary in Florida as a member of the Tampa Hyde Park Rotary Club. On return to New Zealand he joined the Rotary Club of Wellington and was President in 2016-2017.
Since 2013, Mark has been General Manager of the New Zealand Government’s Aviation Security Service, a role he came to after serving with the New Zealand Defence Force for almost 38 years, finishing as the Land Component Commander.
He has held a number of senior overseas postings during his career in Defence. Mark and his wife Katie have two daughters studying at university.
Our Area Governor, a new title, replacing the title of Assistant Governor which we have had for many years, continues to be David Shackleton, from the Rotary Club of Port Nicholson. We look forward to further engagement with Mark and David during the course of the new Rotary year.
