Over the past year there have been significant challenges facing the Events Centre Trust, around construction industry conditions and costs forcing a re-think of plans. It has also meant that the Footnote Dance Company which was to be an anchor week-day tenant has decided to pursue different options.

The Trust has been working with the Wellington City Council to re-assess the scope of work to see the Events Centre finished and opened for full time community use. Recommendations have been made to the City Councill and unanimously agreed earlier this month.  The terms of a new agreement with the WCC are different, with no anchor tenant and there have been changes to the scope of work to complete the fitout. The next steps include the Trust finalising the gifting of the building to the Wellington City Council as soon as practicable. This will allow the Council  to manage the fitout process directly. A better sense of time frames for completion will be known very soon.

PP Graeme Titcombe who is on the Trust will be able to further enlighten members on the pathway ahead for completion and planned opening
