The Year In Review
As the world continues ride the Covid roller coaster we welcome the news that vaccines will soon be available. We can certainly be thankful for the actions taken in New Zealand after being plunged into lockdown in March and that we have emerged in good shape as we approach 2021.

In the true spirit of Rotary, we have kept our focus in Karori Rotary throughout this past year and have continued to engage and to meet the challenges of dealing with our projects and activities. It has been a quite an effort, certainly an experience for me as President. None of this would be possible without the work of our board and club membership, my sincere thanks to you all.

Despite the sad loss of two stalwarts of our Club during 2020, a past and popular member Pat Duncan, and more recently Life Member David Stevens, we have achieved a growth in membership, and the return of former Wellington Rotary member, Mark Wood, to Wellington from overseas to join our club will be much appreciated.

Our combined Christmas event with the support of the Rotary Clubs of Mt Victoria and Rotary on Cuba was a joyous occasion at Marsden. I was blown away to be joining charter member, Clive Hesketh, in receiving a Paul Harris Fellowhip at our Christmas event. It is an understatement to say it totally took the wind out of my sails!

We are all looking forward to some relaxation, time with our families and friends and to return ready to continue working for our communities at the end of January. Liz and I extend our warmest good wishes to you and your families for a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

Christmas Function

75 gathered for our combined Christmas function at Marsden with members of the Mt Victoria and Rotary on Cuba Clubs. It was great to combine forces for this celebration, to make new friends and to welcome back previous members of the clubs.

Our highlights were the engagement again of the Harbour Capital Chorus for Christmas carols and presentation of three Paul Harris Fellow Awards, one in the Mt Victoria Club and two in Karori. It was very pleasing to award charter member and oldest member of our Club, Clive Hesketh with a PHF and a surprise for our President Phil in his second year as President of our Club. Members and guests warmly acknowledged these presentations.
