We look forward to returning to Marsden School on 28 September following a period of lockdown. While we are back at level 2, which enables us to be more mobile, it has continued to impose some restrictions on our daily lives.

We approached our caterer Elaine Harris and Jo Sherlock on behalf of Marsden School to see if we could return in person to the school for meetings under this alert level. The school has agreed to our request, having regard to restrictions for public events at this continued alert level.

At this meeting we will welcome our speaker Chris Birkinshaw from Swimming New Zealand, arranged by Jay Jaiganesh. Rotary Area Governor, David Shackleton who joined us on Zoom on 14 September, will hopefully also join us at Marsden to share in a short presentation on Rotary restructuring and forward plans around regionalism in our Rotary Zone 8, a platform I will also share with him having been at a recent Rotary meeting where these issues were discussed.

On 14 September, we appreciated having Rotary Zone 8 Coordinator, Tony Heyward  on a Zoom meeting and our bulletin contains some of the issues that Tony put in front of us at that meeting.

The continuation of Alert Level 2 for a further two weeks however poses problems on a wider front with larger gatherings, spacing and serving food, forcing a cancellation of the business breakfast at the Karori Park Café on 5 October, with Dr Swee Tan. We have now rescheduled this event to Tuesday 7 December.

We will replace this early October meeting with one at Marsden on 12 October with details to come. Hopefully we will be back at level 1 when we meet with our Karori Lions friends for our annual dinner, this year at Karori Park on 27 October.

See you all at Marsden School on 28 September.

Warm regards

President Graeme.
