The new Rotary International President is Shekhar Mehta from the Rotary Club of Calcutta-Mahnagah, Bengal, India. He is an accountant and chair of a real estate development company. He has been involved in a number of humanitarian and disaster response projects.
 
Shekhar pioneered a programme that has performed more than 1,500 life changing heart surgeries in South Asia, and is the architect of the TEACH programme, which promotes literacy throughout India, reaching thousands of schools.
 
He has chosen 'Serve To Change Lives' as his motto and we will display this at our meetings from 13 July.
